For those in this particular creative field, your architecture and interior design business cards must balance both professionalism and creativity, which can be a challenge. Unless you have an established (top 10) firm, you probably cannot get away with a simple black and white card. You need something to set yourself apart and show off your artistic abilities.

Full Color
It is hard to imagine generating visual excitement in your artistic abilities without using color. That is not to say you should go over the top, but incorporating color into your design is always an excellent idea in a creative field. The cost is minimal, so don’t hold back.

Match Your Brand
As tempting as it might be to unleash a wall of artistic energy on your architecture and interior design business cards, be disciplined. Match your brand and your website as closely as possible so that when your client visits your site, they see the visual connection. Use your logo and color scheme on your card to tie your brand together.

Avoid Mugshots
A common faux pas is using a head shot on your business card. While this may have been in favor in the past, the current trend is to avoid these images, unless you find that regionally this is a practice you need to follow. If you do, use the same image you would use for a LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook profile picture.

Basic Contact Info
Stick with the basics. Just a business phone, email, and office location are all you really need. You can include fax numbers and alternate phone lines, but these can be confusing when trying to read 10pt font or smaller. Less is more.

Use the Back
Keep the front of your card very simple with a clear message. Use the back of the card for detailed information like recent projects, specific service offerings, and other relevant information. You can get about 100 words in a 10pt font on the back of the card, which is plenty for delving into some details.
