More on Folded Postcards
So many companies use postcards for their direct mail advertising, and it's easy to see why with their low cost and high return on investment. Even with their many benefits, postcards still come with a major disadvantage - the limited space. Some companies try to solve the real estate problem with a larger postcard, but this also increases mailing costs.
Fortunately, there is a solution. Folded postcards not only provide more space to work with but can also retain the sizes required for cheap mailing. Below are five ideas that make the most of the extra space when designing folded postcards.
Take advantage of the added real estate in folded postcards by including a response card. Whether it be a comment card, survey form, or order form, a reply card gives your customers an easy way to respond to your advertisement. Simply request perforation when completing your online order with PrintPlace.com.
Nothing excites customers more than a discount, free trial, or redeemable prize included in a direct mail piece. Include perforation so that clients can place the incentive in their wallet or purse to be redeemed when they visit your office.
With so much more space available on a folded postcard, you have the room to make your advertisement useful to clients. Include industry-related tips, emergency phone numbers, a mini-calendar, a local high school sports schedule, or even recipes.
The interior of your folded postcards could include a mini-catalog, complete with product images, descriptions, prices, and an order form. This is great for a small sample of new product lines to come in the next catalog or simply for putting your most popular products in front of customers.
You may have heard of using an oversized postcard for a miniature newsletter; a folded postcard, whether standard or oversized, simply gives you more room to include the information that clients need. Plus, a postcard newsletter takes less time and effort than a full page newsletter, giving you more time for more important tasks.

Mailing Panel: must include a 4" wide x 2" tall unprinted area in the bottom right corner
Coating Options: the front/outside (or mailing side) cannot have High Gloss UV or Dull UV coating. Print Place can inkjet on pieces with aqueous coating. If your cards are mailing elsewhere, check with your mail services provider about coating requirements.
Tabbing: choose single tabbing if your mailing panel is open at the top edge, or double tabbing if it opens at the bottom edge.
Custom Trim: if you choose to trim to a custom size, check the ratio of the final/folded dimension: width divided by height must fall between 1" and 2.5"
