Design Tips for Brochures and Flyers

Brochures and flyers give you the opportunity to present necessary information to your customers and are often the most widely used type of print advertising.  Add to the fact that they are economical and effective, brochures and flyers are sure to continue as the dominant print advertising format.

It’s important that your brochures and flyers are unique, readable, connect with your customers, and include a call to action.  It’s not easy to design brochures and flyers that effectively include all of these elements.  So keep the following tips and tricks in mind when designing. 

Unique and exciting
You want your brochure printing and flyer printing campaigns to stand out from the rest of the pack.  It’s important to be aware of what your competitors are doing, but don’t be afraid to push the envelope.  If your competition does not include pricing information, try to be the first to give your customers relevant pricing data.  If the competition is using full color brochures, try unique fold out designs or die cuts to set your brochures and flyers apart.

Readability
In an effort to make unique and exotic brochures and flyers, many businesses make the mistake of sacrificing readability.  Your customers don’t want to squint, twist, or turn your brochures to figure out what you’re trying say.  Make sure you include clear and bold headlines and subheadings for longer passages of text.

Connect with your customers
You have to know what your customers expect and want before you can design your brochures and flyers.  Are your customers 20 to 30 years old and are into exciting sports and technology?  What about customers who are over 65 and enjoy golfing?  Each of these demographics have different expectations, so make sure you know who your customers are and what it is they want.  

Call to action
The whole point of printing brochures and flyers is to increase sales.  So make sure you include your contact information and a website so your potential customers can place an order easily.  Encourage them to log onto your website or to make the call with discounts and other incentives.
