Order a new set of hand sanitizer labels tailored exactly to the container’s shape and in your brand’s colors. You can create or upload a design in individual cut-to-size or roll label formats. Cut-to-size is recommended for order quantities below 250 pieces, while the roll type is best for bulk orders above 250 labels.

Hand sanitizers are being mass produced to help slow the spread of COVID-19. However, drug manufacturers identified to produce them are unable to keep up with the demand. The FDA has provided temporary labeling guidelines in preparing these products for companies that don’t classify as drug manufacturers. Distilleries and other non-drug manufacturers may follow this policy to ensure their hand sanitizers are produced according to these safety guidelines. Here are some of the important FDA requirements for your custom hand sanitizer labels.

The principle display panel (PDP) must take up 40% of the hand sanitizer’s front side. This should cover the entire side for a rectangular package. The PDP must also show:
  1. Statement of identity or what the product is and its use, e.g. hand sanitizer. This may also include your company name.
  2. Net weight (in mL) is the measured amount of product in the container.

Your drug facts panel should contain the following information, according to this listed order:
  1. Active ingredients must be listed in alphabetical order and their corresponding purpose included for easy association.
  2. The purpose of the product
  3. Product uses
  4. Specific warnings, such as when the product should not be used and/or if usage requires consultation with a doctor or pharmacist beforehand.

If there is more than one statement listed under the “Use(s), Warnings, Directions or Other Information” section, precede each line with a bullet. The example below is taken from the FDA’s sample guidelines:

Ask a doctor before use if you have *heart disease *glaucoma *high blood pressure *thyroid disease *diabetes *trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland *a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis
  5. Dosage instructions or usage directions
  6. Other important information such as how to properly store the product
  7. Inactive ingredients

Include the manufacturer’s name and address on the information panel. If you are not the manufacturer, place the name and address of the packer or distributor. Provide other helpful information like your contact details (email, phone number, website) for consumers to reach you.

Hand Sanitizer Label Printing FAQs

Q: Is hand sanitizer regulated by the FDA?
A: Yes, the FDA regulates hand sanitizers that are manufactured for sale. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA is allowing companies that are not drug manufacturers to produce hand sanitizers for commercial use. They can do this if they follow the FDA temporary labeling guidelines.

Q: Can I make hand sanitizer labels online?
A: Yes, you can use PrintPlace’s online design tool to customize your label design based on the given specifications on our online calculator. If you have a preferred design software, you may download any of the available print templates in JPG, AI, EPS or PDF format.

Q: What is the difference between cut-to-size and roll labels?
A: Cut-to-size labels are individually cut and usually ordered in quantities below 250 pieces. You can order at least 25 pieces of cut-to-size labels. Recommended for labels that are to be applied by hand on each sanitizer container.

Roll labels are best ordered in bulk quantities of 250 pieces and up. Each roll fits most standard label guns, allowing for fast and easy application on hundreds of hand sanitizer packages.

Q: What is the most durable material available for hand sanitizer labels?
A: White vinyl sticker is the most durable and the only waterproof material for cut-to-size labels. It is resistant to fading against weather conditions and can withstand exposure to moisture.

BOPP is waterproof, as well as oil and chemical resistant. It is built to last and comes in three colors to match your preferred label design: white, clear, and silver metallic.

Q: What is the fastest production time available for my custom hand sanitizer labels order?
A: Cut-to-size labels can be printed in one (1) business day, while the roll is printed in 2 business days. Note that production time refers to how long it takes to print your hand sanitizer labels. This does not include the transit time before your order is delivered to your address. You may find a more detailed explanation for production time here.

To get an estimate of your product’s shipping time, select “Get Shipping Estimate” at the bottom of the online calculator. Indicate a ZIP code to get the shipping estimate for your order.

Q: Will my order be produced before the weekend if processed by Friday?
A: You need to confirm the order before noon to qualify for the 1 business day production time. If you select the 1 business day turnaround after noon, your order will be produced on the following business day then shipped on the second business day.
